A short story about a girl with an eating disorder being forced to work with a boy she'd rather avoid, and before they know it, they collide for better or for worse.

This story was very emotionally stirring. It was a little fast-paced but I didn't mind it, because the rest of it was just perfect. You created some good characters. ...

This is a powerful short story with very strong elements. It's a quick ride through the emotions of a character struggling with an eating disorder. What I liked most about it, though, was that it ends hopefully. Nothing that happens is random in this story; you find towards the end that you've bonded with the main character and just want to give her a hug. The story is well-written and engaging, pulling you into the situation so you really feel like you're there cheering her on. Distinctive prose makes it enjoyable and realistic.

There is some strong language, but I felt it fit in with the character's situation, making her more realistic. This was worth the read.

ON FIGMENT: Epiphany by Jaelee

Pitch:

Pippa’s mother always has interesting dreams. A dream is what convinced Annabel Sutton that Epiphany Faye was a good name. Dreams were what prompted moving twelve times in ten years. Dreams are what keep Pippa from a normal life.
But where Annabel's dreams always seem happy and carefree, Pippa's are dark and frightening. And ever since they moved (yet again), they're getting worse. And now, Pippa has to make a choice. To listen to her dreams like Annabel always does, or to fight for the normalcy she's craved all her life.

My Figment Comment:

This was one of the best short stories I've read in a long time. It was easy to understand, yet not, very abstract like a confusing but beautiful...painting. :) In the end I can tell that the story is finished, and it feels concluded, even though my mind can't quite grasp it. You created a lovely world here, I can't think of anything to change in it. Wonderful work!

Epiphany, on Figment, is a short story about dreams. What I enjoyed most about it was its abstract flavor. There's points where you don't really understand what is going on but it still feels right, because it's like a dream in itself. Escapism is about works like this! There is a great balance with light and darkness in this story. 

The very first line, in all its simplicity, is an amazing hook--"I had the most interesting dream last night."

We've all had strange dreams that, although they may have been frightening, attracted us because of the adventure in them--the mystery. Everyone's experienced the terror that comes after a nightmare, and the author captured this feeling quite well. This story will absorb you and make you think about those nightmares, long for those lovely dreams--and wonder. What if they weren't dreams? How do they apply to our regular lives?
